Welcome to The OS/2 Universe!
That's right! Yet another web ring site devoted to our favorire 32-bit multi- everything, operating system: OS/2!!! This ring will discuss news and trends in OS/2 that will not only share already existing information but explore other areas as well. Like Application Development, and Gaming!

Although much of the user community uses Windows®, many users prefer to use IBM®'s OS/2. OS/2 is pure 32-bit operating system that allows you run many programs at once! It also allows you to access up to 4 GB of memory! The newest version of OS/2 is called OS/2 Warp Version 4. While there have been no major revisions since this reease in 1996, IBM continues to release what are called FixPacks for OS/2.

A FixPack is an IBM Produced Service Correction Package, this is essentially a set of programs, files, DLL's, and other stuff that are either corrections to bugs, added functionality, or upgrades to operating system itself. The advantage of the FixPack is that the user only need apply a FixPack if a particular program requires it, or if the user encounters a ploblem that a FixPack can remedy. The biggest plus to using the FixPacks is that it eliminates the need for the user to keep buying a new version of the operating system every year or so.

Windows has had two Services Realeases, Two revsions, and One major upgrade since 1995. OS/2 warp 3 has had only one major revision since it was realseased in 1994! And warp has had none since it's release in 1996.

This means you don't keep track of which version you need or have. Windows users are stuck with keeping up with thier system: Windows 95, Windows 95a, Windows 95b, Windows 95 OSR1, Windows 95 OSR2, and now Windows 98. Whew! Who needs all this?
